Upcoming JRPG Releases in 2020

The end of the last decade of the JRPG genre is upon us. Use this calendar to plan your hype around upcoming JRPGs in 2020 and get the most out of the year.

I update the 2020 JRPG release calendar daily, so any newly confirmed dates will always be included on this page. Be sure to check back as more months fill up with announced JRPGs.

Update: As we wrap up 2020, continue onward with the 2021 JRPG release calendar.

The Year 2020 is a Juggernaut for JRPGs

Everyone understands that Final Fantasy VII Remake is the showstopper this year. April 10th, 2020 can’t come soon enough.

But beyond the historic remake, there are many more exciting upcoming JRPGs in 2020.

We have Tales of Arise welcoming a total redesign of the ‘Tales of’ series, featuring re-imagined exploration and action gameplay. Then, Dark Souls creator, Hidetaka Miyazaki, is joining forces with Game of Thrones Author George R.R. Martin for his new game Elden Ring.

I am personally hyped for Ys IX: Monstrum Nox and Trials of Mana. And hey, I’ll even give Persona 5 another shot when the new version, Persona 5 Royal, releases with new content and playable characters.

What upcoming JRPG are you most looking forward to in 2020?
